(KTVZ) -- Bend Police responded to reports of a bear cub in Southwest Bend yesterday afternoon, but the animal ran away from officers and has not been seen since. Community members first reported the cub around 2 p.m. in the area of Wildflower Park along River Rim Drive. Responding officers briefly located the animal at approximately 3:30 p.m. before it fled. No additional bears have been reported in the area.

(KTVZ) -- A 23-year-old Prineville man was sentenced to 84 months in prison after being convicted on multiple counts related to child sexual abuse material. Judge Wade Whiting sentenced Angel Avila to seven years in prison followed by 36 months of post-prison supervision.

SALEM, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield is leading a bipartisan coalition of 49 attorneys general calling on the Federal Communications Commission to close regulatory loopholes and enforce stricter oversight of phone companies that route illegal robocalls. The coalition is pushing the FCC to require telecommunications providers to thoroughly vet business partners and prevent fraudulent calls from entering the U.S. telephone network.
