Making music in Canton to battle Vegas massacre
CANTON, S.D. (KELO.com) The Riverview Christmas Tree Farm at Canton will hold a fundraising concert this Saturday, October 7, for the victims of the Vegas shooting rampage: It's personal for the farm's Todd Gannon. "My cousin lives out there and he was actually in his office adjacent to looking over the concert when the shooting started. He's really struggling to come to grips with what happened out there." National Recording Artist Tyler David will perform at 4 p.m. at the farm.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the Sioux Falls region. The watch will be in effect from 6 p.m. Monday evening until 6 a.m. Tuesday. The Weather Service predicts up to 3 inches of rain, perhaps more in scattered areas. The watch includes Minnehaha, Lincoln, Clay, Moody, Turner, Union and Yankton in southeastner South Dakota and also nearby parts of Minnesota and Iowa. Â
S.D. getting funds for recreation and conservation
PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The US Department of the Interior is sending over $864-thousand to South Dakota to support outdoor recreation and conservation projects. The funds come from the Land and Water Conservation Fund and enable state and local governments to improve existing parks and other recreation areas in their communities through rehabilitation and upgrade projects.
Robbery at Casey's in north Fargo
Fargo, N.D. (KFGO) - An early morning robbery at a convenience store in north Fargo. Police responded to a report of a robbery at the Casey's General Store at 301 10th St. North around 4 a.m. Tuesday. Police are searching for two suspects. No further information has been released. Rain benefits late-season row crops in North Dakota
FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Most of drought-stricken North Dakota has gotten a shot of much-needed rain. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says last week's rainfall benefited development of late-season row crops. But more rain is needed during the rest of the season to ensure good crop development. Cooler weather also moved in. Temperatures across North Dakota averaged 1 to 6 degrees below normal. Corn condition was rated 25 percent poor or very poor.

Caesar Strip Steaks
When grilling a steak, you really only need a little salt, pepper and fire to make something magical. However, that doesn't stop me from trying new flavor combinations just for fun. Here's one that is fast, easy, and very flavorful. In a small bowl, mix 2 Tbsp Caesar dressing with the garlic, salt and pepper. brush both sides of the steak with the mixture. Grill on high heat until you reach desired doneness. Actual times will vary based on the thickness of the steak and temp of your grill.

Ribs On the Grill
In most of my recipes, I usually use my smoker. I wanted to try some ribs on the grill this weekend and they actually turned out Amazing! The process is similar, but a tad different. Try the recipe below for delicious, tender ribs in half the time. Prepare the ribs. There are many ways to do this, but here are the basics. Place the ribs on a baking sheet, meat side down. Using a butter knife, work under the membrane on one of the middle bones and then grab it with a dry paper towel to pull it off.
North Dakota county makes plans to address justice reform
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) - A North Dakota county is planning to begin gathering data on inmates to determine the most pressing issues for inmates with drug and/or mental health issues at its local jail. Director Rob Johnson of the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center recently addressed the Ramsey County Commission and presented several statistics, showing those issues nationwide.
Former Minnesota DOT commissioner tabbed for North Dakota
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Gov. Doug Burgum has appointed a former Minnesota transportation commissioner to lead North Dakota's transportation department. Sorel served as Minnesota transportation commissioner from 2008 to 2012. Burgum says Thomas Sorel will start the job in North Dakota next month. He replaces Grant Levi, who retired in May after more than 37 years with the department. Sorel is currently the chief operating officer of the Minnesota Trucking Association.
Chipotle Chocolate Beef Ribs
I made my weekly run to Oneida Market and they had some beautiful beef ribs on sale, so I decided to try some Mexican smoked ribs! Chipotle and Chocolate is always a winner! Add the ingredients into a food processor and pulse to form a thick paste, add a little olive oil if necessary. Prepare the ribs, by removing the membrane on the bone side of the ribs.
Rhubarb BBQ Sauce
This is a really good sweet barbecue sauce. While the onions and garlic give it a little kick, you can add some extra heat by adding more hot sauce, or using cayenne pepper sauce rather than the Serrano sauce I use. Add the rhubarb and water to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5-6 minutes or until tender. Let cool slightly. Add the rhubarb and water to a food processor and pulse until smooth. Set aside.

He says the athletic logo was merely "filling the cavity" of an undefined brand.
Wildfire risk high in Southwest, northern Great Plains
Forecasters say Utah, Arizona and other parts of the Southwest could face more big wildfires this summer and fall, while hot and dry weather has also put the northern Great Plains at risk. The National Interagency Fire Center's four-month outlook released Saturday shows elevated danger of significant fires in parts of Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah, as well as eastern Montana and the western Dakotas.

Tom Brady Gets His Stolen Jersey Back
Tom Brady finally got his stolen Super Bowl jerseys back. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft presented the jerseys from Super Bowl 51 and Super Bowl 49 to Brady yesterday. The jerseys were allegedly stolen by Mauricio Ortega, a Mexican news director who had access to Super Bowl locker rooms for at least the past 10 years. Authorities found the jerseys at the reporter's home in Mexico. They found Von Miller's helmet from Super Bowl 50, too.
