San Francisco Further Limits Background Checks by Employers
Effective August 10, 2026, San Francisco’s amendments to the Fair Chance Ordinance prohibit employers from using certain out-of-state convictions in making hiring and firing decisions and require employers to acknowledge receipt of certain communications from candidates and employees.
California ‘Workplace Know Your Rights Act’ Template Notice Now Available | JD Supra
Under the new California “Workplace Know Your Rights Act” (Senate Bill (SB) 294), employers must provide a new notice to employees by February 1, 2026. Lawmakers drafted the legislation to ensure that employers inform their employees about labor protections, immigration-related rights, and workplace-based constitutional protections. The California labor commissioner has now provided a template notice in English and Spanish.
