Home Sales Volume Shrinking
Photo by Daniel Stiel on Unsplash Carl Clark, Sept 14 Sales volume, the number of homes sold in a given area, over a given period, can change for several reasons. Lack of available inventory can result in fewer sales because a suitable home cannot be found. Inflation will increase prices, reduce the pool of qualified buyers and lower the number of sales. War makes buyers and sellers nervous about the future and hesitant to conduct business.

Janet Yellen warns inflation decline might not be 'smooth'
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Wednesday that inflation could face a bumpy return to normal after back-to-back reports showed that price pressures within the U.S. economy rebounded at the start of the year. In a sit-down interview with FOX Business’ Edward Lawrence, Yellen pushed back against stagflation concerns and maintained that progress on inflation has not stalled. “I wouldn’t expect this to be a smooth path month to month, but the trend is clearly favorable,” she said.

Adoption: Unlocking new opportunities – for credit unions and families - CUInsight
I went back and forth in my head about how I would write this article. Did I want to focus on the challenges that face young people who are in the foster care system? Or maybe I could talk about the number of children that are currently in foster care across the United States (estimated at over 120,000)? Perhaps I could outline the processes that families must embark upon in order to serve as foster parents or adoptive parents?
Juneteenth: America's real Independence Day
Writing an article about Juneteenth creates some internal conflict. On one hand, I am extremely excited to illustrate the importance of such an impactful moment in American history and to inform and enlighten people about what it means. On the other hand, there is a heaviness. To discuss Juneteenth means also discussing (at least, in part) America’s greatest sin: Slavery.
Letter: Where is the outrage over prescription deaths?
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Utah Medical Association and others claim they oppose Proposition 2 , the medical cannabis initiative, because they worry for the safety of those who choose to use cannabis and cannabis-infused products. Surely that cannot be the case, because tens of thousands of Americans die or are seriously injured each year while using prescribed medications. Where is their outrage over such incidents?

Letters: Cutting protections for most vulnerable shows U.S. is devolving
I’ve known several Asian people, from China and Thailand, who expressed admiration at the way the United States takes care of its elderly citizens. They told me I was lucky, because when I got old I would have Social Security and Medicare to protect me against poverty and illness. They wished their own countries would take care of their aging populations in the same way.

Guest Commentary: Misperceptions about mental health
Over the past few weeks, there have been several distressing acts, both in Colorado and internationally, that have left many of us saddened and stunned at their senselessness. It has been widely reported that the perpetrators of both the Germanwings airplane tragedy, as well as the actions committed against a pregnant Longmont woman, were both experiencing depression. It is a natural reaction to seek fast answers as to why these heartbreaking incidents can happen.
