Importance Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) remains one of the most common cancers affecting the general population. It is generally cleared surgically, yet it is challenging to manage recurrent disease, locally advanced disease, or disease in anatomically sensitive areas among patients, with few options available. Objective To assess whether intralesional interleukin 2 (iIL-2) can effectively treat patients with high-risk or cosmetically sensitive cSCC.

Key Points Question Is intralesional interleukin-2 (IL-2) immunotherapy effective and safe for patients with high-risk cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) or cSCC in cosmetically sensitive areas? Findings In this case series of 16 patients with histologically confirmed cSCC, there was an 81% complete response rate with use of intralesional IL-2. Patients experienced only grade 1/2 adverse events.
