Today in 1848, the first medical school for women, founded by Samuel Gregory, opened in Boston, Massachusetts. The Boston Female Medical School later merged with Boston University School of Medicine. Today in 1864, the Post Office introduced money orders. During the Civil War, it was the best way for people to get money to separated members of their family. Today in 1913, the "forward pass" was introduced by Notre Dame's football team captain Knute Rockne, during a game with West Point.
