1 INTRODUCTION In recent years, the packaging sector has been dominant in the production of primary plastics and, consequently, also dominant in the production of plastic waste.1, 2 Despite the decrease of packaging deposited in landfills and the increase in recycling, more than 18% of this waste still ends in landfills.2 These packages can be of different types and made in a variety of ways; however, this study focuses only on food packages made of flexible films.
