I just opened a time capsule. You may have one, too. During the hot pandemic summer of 2020, I took my mother’s ancient, canvas-covered, binder-style scrapbook and transcribed the recipes into an online version to share with my family. It turned into a massive job, 169 recipes in three sections: cookies; cakes; meals and menus. Many, just notes scribbled down, had to be turned into useful recipes. Mom’s first scrapbook takes up 15 gigabytes of memory in Google Docs.
