As many other industries have gone digital, consumers have come to expect the same degree of convenience and personalization in healthcare. However, improving the patient experience is still not always easy. Social media data could be key to tracking disease patterns
Social media has grown rapidly over the past couple of decades, with some of the biggest players including Facebook, formed in 2004, and Twitter, started in 2006. In just the past 12 months, the number of active social media users has grown by over 400 million, and Twitter alone reaches 211 million active users daily. This all translates to volumes of data that could be leveraged to draw population-level insights.
Hospitals at home growing popularity could change the traditional care paradigm
Over the past few years, there has been a paradigm shift regarding how acute care can be delivered. The pandemic has accelerated the growth of nontraditional models of care, including acute, post-acute and ambulatory home-based care. In the traditional model, patients come to the site of care, but in a hospital at home setting, clinical services are brought to the patient’s home.

Alexandera Houchin Is Ultra Cycling's Underdog
“When I cross the line, people seem stunned”. The sun is beating down from a relentlessly blue sky on an 80-degree late-May afternoon in Emporia, Kansas. Alexandera Houchin is joking with her friends and supporters at the starting line of the Dirty Kanza XL, despite the fact that she’s just ridden her bike a few hundred miles through rain and mud from Iowa, napping under a highway overpass to get here on time. Photos: In chasing Tour de France, a photographer finds her voice
Sports & Leisure Caroline Yang · St. Paul · Jul 5, 2019 I first saw the Tour de France on an old TV through a shop window in Paris. Standing in the rain, my husband and I watched the cyclists slice through the storm with such power and grace, it took my breath away. Two riders suddenly crashed, and as they fought to rejoin the race my heart pounded with every second. I was hooked.
Healthcare Automation: Do Robots Have a Place in Medicine?
In clinics and hospitals nationwide, healthcare providers are seeing the impacts of growing technology and are being forced to adapt to a constantly evolving healthcare landscape. And as technology becomes more capable, its potential to take on traditionally “human” tasks becomes reality. Computers can perform tasks reliably and repetitively, all while recording, storing and, at times, analyzing data for subsequent use, something human error cannot compete with.

It's the Year 2100 and Everyone's Moving to Duluth
Close your eyes. Imagine America 2100. The seas are 6 feet higher than today, maybe 9. Much of Miami Beach, New Orleans and Houston is under water. Thirteen million Americans are migrating across the country, either fleeing weather calamities or voluntarily realizing there are better fortunes elsewhere. To be clear this is a worst case view. But at least some sea level rise is already baked into the climate system, and if the worst does come to pass, big questions lie ahead.
