A crowd gathered at The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah on Friday evening to dedicate an ambulance in Israel to Johnson County native Sarah Milgrim. Staff members at the Israeli Embassy, Milgrim, 26, and her boyfriend, 30-year-old Yaron Lischinsky, were fatally shot after leaving an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., on May 21, 2025. Elias Rodriguez, 30, of Chicago, has been charged for his alleged role in the shooting.

A day after a judge approved a preliminary order immediately removing the Ray County prosecutor from her post, questions centered on what happens now. The office of Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway filed a civil petition — known as a writ of quo warranto — Thursday to remove Camille Johnston from the Ray County prosecutor's post, alleging misconduct. That misconduct included allegations she mistreated her staff and had inappropriate intimate relationships.

Westport Stormwater Improvement project to resume following World Cup hiatus

After taking a break for the World Cup, KC Water and field crews are set to resume work on the Westport Stormwater Improvement Project. Several roads will be closed as crews finish up the project. Construction on the project is set to resume July 20, and with it comes two road closures, according to a news release from KC Water.

2023 - Academics

The White House Correspondents' Association Scholarship is awarded annually to a student at the University of Kansas who excels in information management and accessing government databases. Students travel to the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, D.C. for a weekend to learn from the top journalists in the industry. The scholarship is given in conjunction with the White House Correspondents' Association.
