Holly Lehman and Carrie Land-Steves are on the staff at Vera House, in Syracuse. On Dec. 8, 2022, an article titled “Vera House staff calls for leader to step down, says Syracuse institution teetering on destruction” was posted by Syracuse.com. In this article, the Vera House board alleges “the staff needs to return to its ‘why’ and remember the reason they do the work.” We keep coming back to this statement. Struggling to understand the assertion that staff have lost their “why.” Why?
