The best U.S. cities for a gay getaway this fall
It’s not Pride season anymore and we’ve still got a few months until it’s time to ski, but that doesn’t mean you have to stay home. Some of our favorite stateside gay destinations are the perfect size for 48 hours of exploration, and the fall provides a perfect opportunity for a quick weekend getaway. Thankfully, the good folks at Babeland dived into the data and ranked them on four major travel factors: LGBTQ+ inclusivity, affordability, entertainment and weather.
“Maxxing” is named Dictionary.com’s Word of the Year & our glutes still hurt
New Africa (Shutterstock) It’s a suffix that has raided the worlds of looks, appendages, pheromones, and even glutes over the past 12 months, so it’s only fitting that “maxxing” was just named Word of the Year by Dictionary.com.
Cardi B, Gay Halloween & Ryan Beatty’s concert: 10 things we’re obsessed with this week
What a week to be gay! If the shower scene viewed ’round the world wasn’t enough, La Bola Negra hit theaters and Ryan Murphy announced the Glee-boot is, indeed, a go. Plus, Troye Sivan spilled on relationships, Mary Beth Barone talked bi awakenings, we celebrated International Pronouns Day, and geeked over theater gays. Otherwise, it’s been clothes, The Craft, and Cardi B, as usual. Below, check out the 10 things we’re obsessed with this week.
Toilet seats, sharing clothes & other gay marriage things the straights will never understand
Sorry, straight married folks, but you can’t sit with us! We all know that hetero and homosexual marriages are very different, from the pressures to have children, to tastes in interior decorating, and whether or not a little app called Grindr is a part of the relationship.
International Pronouns Day begs the question: Can we joke about pronouns?
Today is International Pronouns Day, and we at Queerty are here to ask: Have you shared yours yet? The annual event, which takes place every third Wednesday of October, is all about creating awareness around the importance of respecting each other’s pronouns, as well as normalizing the act of sharing your own during introductions.

Not the Glee reunion we were expecting, but we’ll take it! Chris Colfer joins Darren Criss for surprise duet
It’s been more than a decade since Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine (Darren Criss) tied the knot on the final season of Glee. But that doesn’t mean the internet’s love for the two trailblazing gay characters has wavered, nor that the actors’ affection for each other has changed.
Jacob Tierney’s book, undead dogs & Conan Gray’s cover: 10 things we’re obsessed with this week
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve spent the last seven days consumed by tales about Kelly Clarkson, a magic shop, and a singing bird. But don’t worry, we’ve been keeping tabs on the biggest LGBTQ+ stories of the week to get you quickly up to speed. Basically, a gay tennis film has us hot and bothered, Girls is getting a revival, and Josie Totah is having a moment. Plus, Ronan Farrow dove into “gAI,” Matt Bomer celebrated a birthday, and a gay advice columnist is getting a second act.
“I miss a lot about it:” Ellen hints at a return to TV
Tasos Katopodis/Getty Images Could we see Ellen DeGeneres back on TV? The probability is looking likely, if the 68-year-old former talk-show host has anything to say about it. In a new interview on tonight’s episode of The Graham Norton Show, the funny lady admitted that she’s gotten antsy since her decision to ditch Hollywood and relocate to the U.K. back in 2024. “I’ve got nothing really going on and I really miss being on TV,” DeGeneres said, per People.
HBO’s Girls is getting a revival. Fingers crossed it’s better than that other HBO revival!
Stephen Lovekin (Getty Images) It’s a big day for Andrew Rannells fans, twenty-somethings, and every gay man who’s ever spent a night out in in Brooklyn: HBO’s hit sitcom Girls is coming back next year. The Lena Dunham-helmed show, which ran from 2012 to 2017, was billed as the younger generation’s answer to SATC, following a group of friends traipsing through their 20s in New York City with sardonic comebacks and little-to-no safety nets.

Dan Levy is not here for Shane Gillis’s awful SNL monologue & neither are we
Dan Levy might be a funny guy, but he’s not laughing now. The Schitt’s Creek star took to Instagram over the weekend to call out comedian Shane Gillis, who stirred up controversy with his monologue on Saturday Night Live, in which he made a handful of tired and lazy cracks about women at the gym.
Rocky Horror Rosie, ghost tours & Grey Sweatpants Szn: 10 things we’re obsessed with this week
ICYMI: It’s “Locktober,” a month fully devoted to locking in, at least according to a hilarious TikTok mom. Of course, that was hardly the craziest story in LGBTQ+ news, from the return of ButtTootKing, to Tom Daley getting all dolled up, and a Grindr convo that went surprisingly well. Plus, we reminisced on the ’90s, saw ourselves in these “frenemies,” and learned too much about the NHL’s forced Heated Rivalry fantasy. On top of that, we’ve stayed fixated on books, boys, and drag brunch.
Is there really a “free fall” in the number of teens identifying as LGBTQ+?
Are the kids going to be alright? We’re not quite sure after a recent analysis by The Washington Post, which found that there’s been a “free fall” in the number of young teenagers who are identifying as LGBTQ+. The finding, based on data from a 2025 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention survey, comes from San Diego State University professor Jean M. Twenge, who attributed the drastic drop to young teenage girls in particular.
A great time in New York City with ‘Good Time Charlie’ star Jonathan Raviv
Ryan J. Haddad, Tim Bagley, Jonathan Raviv, and Michael Cristofer for GOOD TIME CHARLIE at The Public Theater. Photo by Valerie Terranova. You could certainly call Good Time Charlie, which is in previews and opening on October 9 at The Public Theater, a “good time.” But its sarcastic, sentimental, and spirited protagonists would likely roll their eyes at the cliche. Of course, to have the privilege of seeing a performance by gay playwright and actor Ryan J.
The “womanface” backlash to Tom Daley’s drag makeover is insane
In today’s The Internet is a Bad Place news, Tom Daley is catching strays on social media for doing — checks notes — “womanface”? Yes, you read that correctly. It all started when the gay diver got an absolutely gagworthy drag makeover, courtesy of RuPauls Drag Race All Stars alum Plastique Tiara, on a recent episode of her YouTube show. While Gay Twitter X was busy showering the LGBTQ+ duo with compliments, the five-time Olympic medalist’s clip crossed over to, erm, other corners of social media.
A throwback pic of these literary gay “frenemies” has the gays talking
Truman Capote, Tennessee Williams, and Gore Vidal — name a more iconic gay trio, we’ll wait. The three queer powerhouses, who dominated the New York literary and LGBTQ+ social scene in the late 1940s and ’50s, have been front of mind since a famous photo of their group went viral on Gay Twitter X over the weekend. “Frenemies in the early days before the troubles,” a user named @jmlx_john2 captioned the black-and-white pic, which depicted the three men smiling with their arms around each other.
Gym crushes, gay Halloween tees & Jonathan Bailey as Dracula: 10 things we’re obsessed with this week
There must be something in the air, because it’s been an especially spooky hot week in the world of LGBTQ+ news—and we’re not just talking about the SoCal heat wave. First, Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson dished on that Verity kiss, we discussed “p*nis-maxxing,” and the NHL jumped on the Heated Rivalry bandwagon. Plus, chaotic bisexual energy hit Big Brother UK, a hookup went haywire, and men cruised via matchbook.
This gay ex-Catholic priest went from the pulpit to the tattoo studio
Viral gay tattoo artist Francis Palmquist went from serving as a Catholic priest during mass to inking up massive biceps at his studio — but it wasn’t an easy journey. The 37-year-old opened up about his transformation in a recent interview with Religion News, discussing his years in the uber-conservative Society of St. Pius X, a small and traditional sect of Catholicism, and how he stumbled into his gig as the patron saint of realistic ink.
Where is the best gayborhood for travelers?
Image Credit: Shutterstock Every LGBTQ+ traveler knows a “gayborhood” isn’t just a street with a lot of gay bars — it’s a physical expression of the queer community’s joy, history, and safety, especially when you’re visiting somewhere new. As part of this year’s Best of GayCities, we provided readers with a list of some of our favorites across the world and asked them to pick the very best.
Enrique Santos has the ultimate response for homophobic haters after friend’s gay wedding post
If you think you’re going to get away with homophobia in Enrique Santos‘ comment section, think again! On Tuesday, Santos, the president and CCO of iHeartLatino who’s widely considered the first-ever openly gay Spanish radio on-air personality, took social media to task after receiving an overwhelming amount of hateful attacks.

Of course, like the theme park itself, the unofficial queer community meetup has certainly blossomed from its humble roots as a one-day gathering in 1998.

Travel by app? What to know about Grindr’s new gayborhood webseries
Our new favorite travel show isn’t on Netflix, HBO, or even The Travel Channel; it’s on our phones hiding behind a little orange and black mask faced app: Grindr. Gay Halloween, Spice Girls & Survivor ‘s newest LGBTQ+ star: 10 things we’re obsessed with this week
This week gave us new Taylor, another reason to celebrate Dolly’s legacy with 9-to-5 Day, and enough autumnal thirst traps that we’re starting to taste pumpkin spice in the air. As far as the gays go, we discussed bisexual husbands, an influencer went undercover, and Kathy Griffin dished on her new tour. Plus, Daniel Franzese shared his body transformation, François Arnaud hooked up with Orville Peck, a VMAs tribute went wrong, and for some reason, everyone’s talking about Lizzie Borden.
Alyssa Edwards reads Ken Paxton for filth after disgusting attack: “Texas is big enough for all of us”
If you mess with Alyssa Edwards (and the drag queen community), you’re going to get the horns. This week, the iconic RuPaul’s Drag Race alum was dragged into politics amid the intense Texas Senate race between Dem. James Talarico and conservative state Attorney General Ken Paxton. With Talarico leading in the polls, it seems the Republicans are getting desperate.
The entire internet is stressed & obsessed with this viral lesbian bar meltdown happening in Massachusetts
The Boston Tea Party helped spark the Revolutionary War, but those colonists had NOTHING on the tea that was just spilled about a (now infamous) Massachusetts lesbian bar. Last month, Greenfield’s own Last Ditch Bar and Arts Venue, which bills itself as a hang out for “dykes, transsexuals, gender freaks, workers, and their friends” and required all visitors to wear KN-95 masks, announced a minor update to its door policies.
Madonna is opening the VMAs & here’s some of her most iconic show moments
This is not a drill: Madonna is opening this year’s MTV Video Music Awards! Of course, the Confessions II singer, who scored 11 nods at this year’s show, has a long and storied history with both MTV and their patently messy music-video celebration. But while Madge has made several appearances (and stirred up a handful of water-cooler moments) at some of the more recent VMAs ceremonies, this will mark her first live performance on the show in 23 years.

If the cameras are on, it’s not gay, right? Right?! On the latest episode of Straight Mess, this heterosexual couple is going viral after appearing in YouTube series Love Don’t Judge where they opened up about their, erm, rather complicated relationship dynamic. Pour one out for The Rosemont, a New York gem gone too soon
Image Credit: The Rosemont It was the shot heard ’round every gay group chat in New York City when The Rosemont announced it would be closing its doors on September 3. See Jack Falahee get his very hairy chest waxed smooth: “The things actor do for a role….”
Another hairy chest bites the dust! Jack Falahee revealed he’s being forced to shed his fur in an Instagram video on Monday captioned, “The things actor do for a role….” In the clip, the straight actor, who played our favorite gay hottie in How to Get Away With Murder, winced and groaned as a technician applied wax strips across his tatted pecs, and let ‘er rip! “How do people do this regularly,” he wrote alongside the post. TBH, his facial expression (and his usage of “#ouch”) says it all. LOL.
Are gay exclusive resorts still a “thing”? We asked GayCities readers
To gay resort or not to gay resort? That is the question. With the rise of travel influencers, dating apps, the LGBTQ+ cruise industry, and more widespread acceptance of the queer community in certain locations, it seems the need for “gay resorts” — properties built specifically for LGBTQ+ guests to stay and socialize — is evolving.
Pete Buttigieg says “of course” America is ready for a gay president
Is America ready for a gay president? Well, if you ask Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, a.k.a. the first gay man to ever run for president, the answer is “Of course.” As the 44-year-old, who married his husband Chasten back in 2018, told Kristen Welker on Meet the Press on Sunday, he would have never “run for president in the first place if I didn’t believe that.” Watch. NEW: Democrat Pete Buttigieg says America is ready for a gay president.

Pride, Folsom, Carnival or bust! GayCities readers said these LGBTQ+ events are worth the travel
Image Credit: Shutterstock For some travelers, a trip is about the destination, but for the vast majority of explorers, it’s about the moment. But what makes these weekend-long excursions worth it?

Of course, between thumping clubs, quirky dives, and sizzling saunas, we know that not every gay venue is created equally, nor can they be compared as such. That’s why, as part of this year’s Best of GayCities, we turned to the readers to learn about their all-time favorite hang outs and share the lowdown on what makes them so special.
