Reference Keeter, Hatley, Kennedy and Lau2017), and there are growing concerns about inaccuracy (Clinton et al. Reference Clinton2021a; Clinton, Lapinski, and Trussler Reference Clinton, Lapinski and Trussler2022; Kennedy et al. Reference Kennedy2018).

The murder of Miroslava Breach exemplifies the risky environment in which Mexican journalists work. After reporting on the collusion between organized crime and local politicians in Chihuahua state, Breach was shot eight times in her car outside her home by a member of a local criminal group.
