Cat Cardenas’s Biography

Cat Cardenas is a freelance writer and photographer based in Austin, Texas. Born and raised in San Antonio, she is a bilingual journalist, second-generation Mexican-American.

During her time at The University of Texas, she was one of four students selected to report on the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Her work has since appeared in Texas Monthly, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Remezcla, and The Texas Tribune. She has covered breaking news, culture, sports, and written investigation pieces. Her primary interests are reporting on immigration, women's rights and the Latinx community.
