Clinician communication strategies associated with increased uptake of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine: A systematic review
Evidence for Efficacy of a Strong Vaccination Recommendation from Clinicians The strategy with the best evidence for promoting uptake was what study authors termed a strong recommendation (N = 20 studies; 22 reports of included studies). All except one were of higher quality (80%–100% of quality criteria met).
The Global Geomagnetic Field of the Past Hundred Thousand Years
Earth is surrounded by its constantly changing magnetic field that shields our habitat against cosmic rays and solar wind. Investigating past geomagnetic field changes relies on detailed and time-consuming laboratory experiments on paleo- and archeomagnetic materials. A recent article in Reviews of Geophysics summarizes current knowledge about global geomagnetic field evolution over the past hundred thousand years.
Rapid geomagnetic changes inferred from Earth observations and numerical simulations
Abstract Extreme variations in the direction of Earth’s magnetic field contain important information regarding the operation of the geodynamo. Paleomagnetic studies have reported rapid directional changes reaching 1° yr−1, although the observations are controversial and their relation to physical processes in Earth’s core unknown.
Enacting Gender and “Humanness” in
This article will begin by examining two different conceptions of the postmodern surface and their take up in relation to mainstream science fiction cinema. The first traces Frederic Jameson's conception of postmodern superficiality, its dual role as a mode of reading texts and aesthetic paradigm, and its use in Vivian Sobchack's seminal analysis of the surfaces of science fiction film.
Geomagnetic spikes on the core-mantle boundary
To create an approximate spatial map of the Levantine spike seen at Earth’s surface we consider the Jordanian and Israeli data to be coeval and centred at 1000 BC. Although there is evidence for two distinct spikes separated by 1–2 centuries in the observations11 we do not make this distinction here, instead focussing on a single potential deep-seated cause at the CMB.
