An Uplifting Transformation
When Mark and Lynn Sableman set out to remodel an addition to their home, they had a clear guiding principle: it needed to be livable, not straight out of a magazine. They called on designer CJ Knapp for guidance and a design plan for the renovation, and she was met with challenges in the room’s layout, function and form. It was an addition to the home, with ceilings that were less than eight feet tall and a flat roof.
Writing a New Story
Every home tells a story, and for these homeowners, each chapter has been defined by thoughtful design and transformation. They were no stranger to home design, having undergone several new builds and remodels through the years. “With each of our remodels, we’ve leaned towards a more contemporary look, but because our property is in a pastoral area, we brought in some rustic features,” she said.

In the midst of these factors, décor is often one of the first places that clients look to scale back.

Goat yoga is a thing and you'll wanna get in on it
Ever try doing a downward dog yoga pose while an upright baby goat tries to eat your hair? No? Well, it very well could be in your future. Goat Yoga is real and it’s here and the classes are booking up faster than you can say naaaaaaaaamaste. I went to a GOAGA (goat yoga) class this weekend in the Fireman’s Park Annex in Slinger. It was a sold-out class with almost as many baby goats running around inside the corralled space as there were participants – all of whom were women, interestingly.
How to celebrate Mardi Gras in Milwaukee
Mardi Gras, also called Carnival, refers to celebratory events beginning on or after Epiphany and ending on the day before Ash Wednesday. "Mardi Gras" is French for "Fat Tuesday" and often serves as the last chance to eat rich food and indulge in alcohol before Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday. But even if you can't celebrate in the Big Easy, there are several events going on throughout Brew City to party for Mardi Gras.
Hidden gem coffee shops: MKEing Coffee
We are back looking for the best hidden coffee shop in the city, and this week we found one that wasn’t even on my radar. The place was called MKEing Coffee, at Sharehouse Goods, located on 55th Street and North Avenue. Let me first say a little bit about Sharehouse Goods, because I didn’t even know this was a thing but it’s pretty awesome. Its purpose is urban consigning and recycling.

Kinnickinnic Ave., this small coffee shop has an eclectic European style, looking like it could be nestled amid the German countryside. There is a small parking lot, with lots of room on the side streets for additional parking.
