New numbers show that there have been a dozen domestic violence deaths in North Carolina this year. Officials say these numbers are on track to match record figures reported since the pandemic. Built in 1953, Ligon Magnet Middle School was Raleigh’s only back high school at the time. For over 70 years, the school has been known as a historic site. The Wake County Public School System has decided to demolish the current school and build a new one on the site of its athletic fields.

Urban heat islands are places with more pavement and fewer trees, easily trapping heat and making them feel much hotter.
