Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate and appreciate Hispanics' influence in this country. Still, it is also a time to recognize the struggles we face as a community. As a Latina myself, college is a vast place where my community is underrepresented for several reasons. The barriers we face as Latinx in higher education include lack of resources, financial restraints, guilt for leaving family, and dropping out/not furthering our education due to lack of support.
