What was your first job as a journalist?

I wrote for my student paper, The Concordian. I also started as a Radio News Anchor for CJLO160AM, Concordia's student radio.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Unfortunately, I am not afraid to say that I am too young to have used that.

How is social media changing news?

Its impact has been tremendous for the better and for the worst. It contributing to the constant flux of news numbs the public eye.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Mikeal Blomkvist in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means to tell stories. Its what humans do best, and journalists perpetuate this innate capacity of ours with purpose and professionalism.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Direct and unique.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I use the Adobe suite for my audio-visual projects.

What's your favorite social network?

Right now, I like Twitter, but that may be subject to change.

Who do you wish followed you?

I would say that if Sandra Gathmann from Al-Jazeera English followed me, it would be a pretty good day.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I worked for my University's newspaper, The Concordian, where I published articles on international events.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Right now, my story on Sudan's issues has been my most complex work. But, this is subject to change.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

As a student, I found that concentrating on crafting well-constructed and unique stories instead of being quantity-driven is enriching.

What's your favorite drink?

A cup of coffee, nothing more, nothing less

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

In the city exploring the nooks and crannies.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

I love reading Al-Jazeera for international news, but I also delve into longer pieces on Longreads as well.
