1 INTRODUCTION Over the past decade, pay transparency—the comprehensive disclosure of individuals' pay—has gained momentum globally as a vehicle to increase the equitable allocation of pay in organizations (Bamberger, 2023; OECD, 2021). Empirical studies suggest pay transparency encourages pay that is both more equal and more equitable—more consistently linked to productivity measures (Lyons & Zhang, 2023; Mas, 2017; Obloj & Zenger, 2022).
