The Curious Case of James Young
So where does this leave us? The Celtics can not pick up his option next year which will give them an extra million dollars which is essentially worthless in this next year and if teams haven’t learnt that not picking up options can come back to bite you ask the Charlotte Hornets if they wouldn’t mind having Biombo back on their pay role (also they cant offer him as much as other teams) and the last thing they need as a franchise is to let him walk and him become a star or even a starter.
Celtics 2016 Draft Prospects: Jamal Murray
The real question that comes into play for the Celtics when looking at Murray as our number 3 is how is he going to fit in our system? I don’t need to sit here and tell you that we already have too many guards. We all know this. Will the Celtics be able to clear space for Murray to get some playing time? Do we really need another combo guard? Can Murray play good enough defense to be the 2 alongside Isaiah at the 1? These are things Ainge will be thinking long and hard about.
The Point Guards Who Came Before Steph Curry
Steph Curry is changing the game - or already has changed it. Since the addition of the three-point line in 1980, the small guy finally had an offensive weapon that didn't require him to bang bodies inside the paint to dominate games. It's easy to forget that the NBA once only belonged to the biggest and strongest players around - Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Kareem and Karl Malone.
Evan Turner 6th Man of The Year?
Turner shared his thoughts on being in the contention for the Sixth Man of the Year. Via Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe "I try my best to be efficient and play the right way,” he said. “Do as coach asks and just play hard. I think the sixth man award is for high-scoring guys off the bench. The league is filled with scorers, guys who can do one trick.
Jae Crowder's Improvement!
Crowder has become one of the most valuable players on the Celtics, and that has certainly come to fruition over the last couple weeks without him on the court. Since his injury, the Celtics have lost to teams such as the Pacers, Thunder, and Raptors. It was clearly evident that the Celtics missed Crowder during that tough stretch, mainly because of his ability to defend the perimeter.
Celtics 2016 Draft Prospects: Jaylen Brown
In the end, I think NBA floor spacing will do wonders for Jaylen Brown’s game. Put him on the court with some shooters and there are very few players who will be able to stop Jaylen 1 on 1. Along with that, this kid is built like an absolute monster at only 19 and has lots of room to grow and enormous upside in all facets of the game. Worst case scenario I see Jaylen Brown becoming Jeff Green – occasionally dropping 40 point games in between quiet 12 point, 7 shot outings.
Celtics 2016 Draft Prospects: Kris Dunn
Although it would be a great story if the local kid from New London, Connecticut ended up wearing green to begin his career, it is difficult to imagine that fairy tale coming true. Dunn has game; there is no way around that, but how would he fit as a Celtic in Brad Stevens system? Dunn has size, strength, a long wingspan, is effective at getting to the free throw line, and is a great on ball defender.
The Nets 2016 Pick
This draft class doesn't look like one of the greatest draft classes (on paper), especially compared to last years one. However there are some elite prospects (Ben Simmons & Brandon Ingram). Would us trading for a proven NBA talent be a bad thing? No. But we must realize, This draft pick is very important and we should not trade it away unless offered an all star caliber player.
Boston’s Off-Season Woes
We got a seven footer in a salary dump from Cleveland who played 82 games and now can’t consistently get on the floor. His per 36 min numbers look amazing (18.1/9.1/1.5) but he doesn’t play more then 12 minutes per game and can only play if the match up dictates it. He is a solid offensive player however, who can space the floor by shooting mid range shots.
