A new litter of red squirrel kits has been born as part of a conservation programme in Suffolk. The baby squirrels are the first to be born at Suffolk Owl Sanctuary and Nature Centre (SOS) at Stonham Barns Park in Stonham Aspal. This follows the arrival of the rare species at the centre in 2024 and the construction of new enclosures to support them.

A man has been arrested in connection with supplying drugs. An officer stopped a driver after a suspected vehicle was seen in Bury St Edmunds. During a stop and search, officers found a large quantity of cash and a mobile phone that was repeatedly ringing. The man was arrested and enquiries are ongoing. A spokesman for Bury St Edmunds police said: "If you notice suspicious behaviour in your area, please report it – your information helps us keep our communities safe."

Two drivers were caught by police using their phones behind the wheel. On Friday, officers were out on patrols in Haverhill between responding to incidents. During these patrols, two drivers were caught using their phones behind the wheel. The drivers were issued with traffic offence reports for the offence. A spokesman for Sudbury and Haverhill police said: "Please remember — using a mobile phone while driving is dangerous and illegal."
