I’m a Venezuelan journalist and video producer based in Washington, D.C., currently working with Reason Magazine. My reporting focuses on politics, economics, law, and culture across the Americas, with a strong emphasis on Venezuela, U.S. immigration policy, and the intersection of power and everyday life.
I grew up in Venezuela and carry that perspective into my work: I’ve seen firsthand how authoritarian regimes shape culture, sports, and institutions, and I now cover those dynamics from the United States. At Reason, I produce video features and documentaries that mix investigative reporting with narrative storytelling, aiming to make complex issues accessible without losing depth.
Much of my current work examines how Venezuela’s government manipulates spaces that should be apolitical. I’m reporting a longform feature on how soccer has been infiltrated and instrumentalized by figures close to Nicolás Maduro, turning stadiums into stages for propaganda and repression. My reporting draws on testimony from fans, evidence of politically motivated detentions, and the broader context of how passion for the sport collides with state power.
In the U.S., I also cover immigration policy. I’ve reported on TPS, parole programs, asylum law, and how enforcement priorities shape immigrant communities. This is an area I know both professionally and personally: my own path through asylum, TPS, and visa applications gives me an insider’s view of the bureaucracy and the stakes for those navigating it.
My broader beat includes Latin American politics—covering corruption scandals, debates over indefinite re-election, and the challenges of democratic backsliding. From Argentina to El Salvador, I’ve examined how leaders concentrate power while maintaining public support, and what that means for the future of the region.
As a multimedia journalist, I move between longform features, social media explainers, and investigative projects. Whether I’m working on a documentary, writing an article, or posting a short TikTok about policy, my goal is the same: to uncover how power works, tell the stories of those caught up in it, and explain why it matters.
