It’s Now No Big Deal To Go To Space
Jeff Bezos’ “Blue Origin” has now sent a handful of celebrities and other “important” people into space. Yesterday saw Katy Perry hitch a ride to the outer reaches of the atmosphere with an all female crew including CBS host (and Oprah friend) Gayle King and Bezos’ fiancee Lauren Sanchez. But…big whoop! As they returned to Earth, they kissed the ground. They were gone a whopping ELEVEN MINUTES!!! I’ve been gone to the bathroom for WAAAY longer. My wife also didn’t know if I’d return.
The movie “Rust” was famous before anyone ever saw a trailer for it. It’s of course the now infamous movie in which Alec Baldwin “accidentally” shot a crew member. Well, a trailer was released yesterday and it looks good. VIDEO
Admittedly, I do get a lot of the things I talk about on the air from X. It CAN be a great source for thought sharing. Finding twists and angles multiple people have on certain stories. However, it’s become a VERY toxic place. I’m all for freedom of speech and thought. No matter how offensive. However, I’m also all for common sense. X has none of that. Can you post a video of a beheading? Sure. Should you?

A Saltwater Croc Fought An Alligator
The headline says it all. Someone got footage of an alligator and a croc fighting on an Everglades sidewalk in Florida. Oh by the way…THIS HAPPENS WHERE PEOPLE LIVE!!! Sure, we have crazy cold weather and the occasional moose. But this is insane! VIDEO
Happy Gilmore 2 will be hitting Netflix on July 25th with much of the original cast returning. We’ve seen super short teasers so far, however Netflix is now giving us a bigger bite. Check out this trailer as Happy goes to his “happy place”. VIDEO -Chad
“Adolescence” has premiered on Netflix just in time for a weekend of binging. The show is making headlines not just for it’s unique aspect, but it’s extremely difficult filming concept. It’s an old fashioned idea. A murder mystery. However, it doesn’t follow from the aspect of the victim or law enforcement. It follows from the aspect of the young kid accused of murdering the victim.
Man Sets Record For World’s Hairiest Face.
This guy has the worlds hairiest face according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Looks like there is some serious potential for a Nair endorsement. VIDEO -Chad
I can tell a lot about a person by what they drink at the Holiday Christmas Party. Here’s what I’ve gathered. Rum and Eggnog- You’re in the Christmas spirit. However, you will be on the toilet later in the evening. Having “the sugars” is optional. Rum and coke- You’re a mans man. You also might bring your own crystal glass to the party. You scowl a lot. You often stand alone. The Supplied Punch At A Party- You’re a risk taker. Whoever mixed it may have gone a little heavy on the sauce.
It’s that time of year once again. Hipsters from around the world rejoice at the announcement of a festival that has more to do with social media posts than any act taking the stage. Coachella! The ultimate influencer playground. I will admit that this years lineup looks pretty good. Good choice for headliners. I’ll also admit that I don’t know about 50% of the acts on the lineup. The rest I’ve heard of but don’t really know anything about.
Best Substitutes For A Snowbrush
Let’s face it. We’ve all been there. The first major storm hits and we’re caught without a snowbrush. Defrost can only do so much, and fuel ain’t cheap. We’re not going to let our cars run forever. So, what do we do? You could drive off with a little face size hole scraped out on your windshield and risk the po-po writing you up. OR you could utilize one of my handy tips! Find a broom.- Any broom will do. Push broom. Whatever you have nearby. Hell, use the dustpan.
Seeing Bomber Fans Sad Makes Me So Happy
Leading into yesterdays Grey Cup I would have said the Winnipeg Blue Bombers had it hook, line, and sinker. They were facing a team without their starting quarterback. (A quarterback I may actually despise more than any Bomber btw. But I digress.). But, they choked. Hard! Leading up to half time it was like the Bombers just couldn’t get it started. I figured they’d shake out the cobwebs at halftime while we all indulged in the glory of the Jonas Brothers. That must not have happened.
Celebrate “Exploding Whale Day”
It was 44 years ago that a 45 foot sperm whale washed up on the shores of Florence, Oregon. The locals were baffled as to what to do with the giant beast. Do they drag it back into the sea? Well, it’s likely to wash back up onto the beach again. Do they just leave it? The sight and smell are sure to chase tourists away. They decided to load it up with dynamite and explode it. If you have half a brain, I’m sure you’ve figure out…that didn’t go as planned.
Too Soon For Christmas
It just is. This is not one of those “respect the veterans and don’t decorate until after November 11th” posts either. Although, I do personally believe that. Can we just not do the Christmas thing yet? We just got done Halloween for God’s sake. Celebrating Christmas now is the same as putting up Halloween decorations in August. It’s just too soon. Corporations will do their best to pummel your eyes and ears with ads asking you to buy the love of your children soon enough.
Jelly Roll Had An Off Night
Jelly Roll had the honor of singing “Mama I’m Coming Home” as Ozzy was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame this weekend. Let’s just say…it was less than ideal. It should be noted that I’m a fan of Jelly Roll. It should also be noted that performances like this can be tough. They often bring a ton of pressure as they are televised live and are prone to technical issues. My guess is that monitors weren’t working on this one.
Cassette Tapes Sucked
There. I said it. Retro music lovers may sing their praises, but the cassette tape is garbage and always has been. It’s “Cassette Week 2024”. The cassettes response to Record Store Day I suppose. Your chance to head to select stores and buy limited edition cassettes from your favorite artists. But why? Cassette tapes had their time. They were convenient and portable. But that is it. There was no other advantage to them. Let’s run through why they sucked.
I’ll Never Get Excited About A Movie Again.
Joker: Folie a Deux is a stinker. Let’s call it like it is. I haven’t even seen it and I’m angry. The first Joker was amazing. It’s legitimately one of my favourite movies. So to follow it up with a movie that scored the lowest Cinemascore rating in comic book movie history is SHOCKING!!! The movie opened to $40 million domestically. Less than half of the original Joker. Here’s the kicker. The sequel cost three times the original to make.
Fat Bear Week Hits A Snag
Katmai National Park and Reserve in Alaska holds a contest every year, asking fans to vote for their favorite fat bear as they bulk up for winter hibernation. However, things took a morbid turn this week. Two bears were seen fishing in the Brooks River on a livestream set up by Explore.org, when one of the beasts (Bear 469) attacked another (Bear 402), killing her and immediately eliminating some of his competition.
Every Canadian (Hip Fan or Not) Should Watch The Tragically Hip Documentary Series
The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal was released by Amazon last week and it is MUST WATCH. I know we as Canadians are blindly in love with The Tragically Hip, so I’d ask any potential international readers of this to take this with a grain of salt. This documentary series is the greatest bio I’ve ever seen in my life. Simply because it made me so proud to be not only a Hip fan, but to be Canadian. Our international friends will likely be shocked by how much this band meant to us as a nation.
Did Jane’s Addiction Just Implode?
Jane’s Addiction had a rough weekend. The band was onstage in Boston when frontman Perry Farrell seemed to have some sort of beef with guitarist Dave Navarro. The eccentric singer can be seen shoving Navarro and then being held back by security and bandmates. Rumors are circulating as to what the melee was about but the most prominent seems to be an alcohol infused battle over volume onstage. It’s been alleged that Farrell was upset the sound of drums, bass, and most notably, guitar.
In Defense of Linkin Park...
You can’t replace Chester Bennington. The fans know that. More importantly, the bandmates left to pick up the pieces know that. Whenever a deceased lead singer is “replaced” by another artist, fans start a giant “who’s traumatized more?” contest. “I was the world’s biggest (fill in the blank on the new lead singer) fan!! How dare they think they can go on without them?”. I hate to break it to you, but fans don’t get a vote. You bought some albums and merch. Maybe some concert tickets. That’s great.
NFL Fantasy Football Punishments
The drafts are done. Hopefully your lineup is set. It’s time for the trash talk to begin!! But in order to have a successful league, you must have the perfect punishment for last place. Here are some options. Let’s start with some reasonable ones: League winner names league loser team for the next season. Loser serves drinks at the Super Bowl party/Fantasy Draft. (Attire is negotiable) Trophy for winner. Horrible trophy for loser.
The Sleep Apnea Chronicles: Part 1
I’ve always felt tired. When I wake up in the morning most days I can’t wait to get back into bed that night. I thought everyone felt that way. Apparently, that’s not the case. My wife Kali has been asking me to be checked for sleep apnea for years. My snoring can be a bit but much and Kali has noticed I stop breathing from time to time. Again, something I thought most guys my age and size experienced. Something I didn’t feel was worth the hassle. But lately, my tiredness has been getting out of hand.
How To Deter Those Bastard Wasps
This could be the worst I’ve ever seen these wasps. They are an absolute terror this fall. So what does a person do? Well, here are some suggestions. Remove Food Sources: Wasps are attracted to food, especially sugary substances. Make sure to clean up any fallen fruit, keep trash cans tightly sealed, and avoid leaving food or drinks outside. Set Up Wasp Traps: You can buy or make your own wasp traps using a mix of water, sugar, and a bit of dish soap.
The New Shows I Actually Give A Sh#* About This Fall
Fall used to be the best time of year for television. Of course, things have changed with streaming, but there are still always a few shows that catch my eye. The Penguin -Colin Farrell is back as The Penguin on HBO. This version of the character is based on the 2022 version of Batman in which Farrell portrays a more human version of the legendary villain based more on a mafioso style. Watch for it September 19th. Tulsa King– I’m starting to notice a trend here. Another mafia show.
Buying Into The Work Lotto
Do you or don’t you? Here at Harvard Media, there’s a crew of folks who pool their money together to buy a bunch of Lottomax tickets. I’m always conflicted to buy in. A few years back, we had a close call. We were ONE NUMBER off from winning the grand prize. ONE GOD DAMN NUMBER!!! We all walked away with a couple hundred bucks, but I’m sure I’ve spent that on the work lotta in the years since. I couldn’t imagine living with all of my coworkers winning the lotto and me being left in the dust.
Corey Feldman Is a Guitar God
Corey Feldman (yes THAT Corey Feldman) is currently on tour with Limp Bizkit. Believe it or not, Feldman has a massive fan base. I’m not sure if they just love to cringe, or they are deranged, but to each their own. Despite all of this, Feldman was caught absolute SHREDDING on camera recently and it’s likely enough to send Hendrix rolling in his grave. @frontroworbust Wow #coreyfeldman #fyp #limpbizkit #loserville ♬ Comeback King – Corey Feldman Amazing! Those pants are on point as well.
Racewalkers Look Like They Have To Poop
I was watching the Paris games and I can’t help but laugh at racewalking. It’s the most ridiculous looking sport there is. It’s not running. In fact, they will be penalized if it resembles running in anyway. Their hips thrust from side to side, legs look like rubber, gasping for air as they mall walk past other competitors. Come on! They look like Ace Ventura strolling through the police station. How does one decide to get into racewalking? “Hey Timmy. What do you want to do for fun?”.
The Vandal Turkey
Turkeys are dicks. I’ll say it. Have you ever been attacked by a turkey. I have. It’s terrifying. This story is proof that they are dicks.
This Could Be The Worst Anthem Sang In Professional Sports History.
Country and Western singer Ingrid Andress attempted to murder the “Star Spangled Banner” at the MLB Home Run Derby last night in Texas. The second worst damage done to American ears in a week. It starts…okay. But things take a turn. Even the players are holding back laughter. VIDEO
The Time My Friends Ruined Crazy Town For Me
The year was 2000. My friends (Dustyn and Wes) and I went into the big city (Saskatoon) to watch the Monster Trucks. Dustyn had a Chevy Cavalier, as everyone did. It was a red Z24 dubbed “The Red Rocket”. Wes had a bright yellow Camaro, but we had already driven into Saskatoon to see Korn the previous summer with that bad boy. 5 of us. In a Camaro. I digress. A cold winter night. On our way home from the Monster Trucks. Earlier that day, I had scored two great albums from HMV.
Marge Simpson The Mummy
Archeologists in Egypt have uncovered a very interesting tomb. As soon as images were posted online everyone had the same question. “Is that Marge Simpson?”. The coffin was found in a tomb that experts believe was designed for senior officials and priests 3500 years ago. Were ancient Egyptians fans of The Simpsons. I mean, LOOK! The figure has tall blue hair, yellow skin, and a green outfit!!! LOOK!!! Rumour has it that they found a tomb with the words “Eat My Shorts” scrawled in graffiti.
YOU BLEW IT!!!! The 6 Worst Last-Minute Losses in Professional Sports
Sports have an unparalleled ability to elicit deep emotions, from sheer joy to crushing disappointment. The recent US Open saw Rory McIlroy experience the latter, with a devastating loss that left fans around the world in shock. As we reflect on McIlroy’s near miss, it’s a poignant reminder of some of the most heartbreaking last-minute losses in professional sports history.
You Don’t Choose Ferrari. Ferrari Chooses You. The Rules Of Buying A Ferrari.
It’s true. You don’t choose Ferrari. Ferrari chooses you. You don’t get to take half a million dollars into a Ferrari dealership and buy one of their ultra sleek and speedy cars. You may need to pass a litany of tests. Especially for special edition cars. You may be able to buy a used one, but the new Ferrari smell won’t ever be yours unless you pass the test. First off, you may be asked to pass a background check. Especially for a limited edition Ferrari. Only the cream of the crop can score an Enzo.
Do You Look Up A Band’s Setlist Before Seeing Them In Concert? Roger Daltrey Hates You.
I occasionally look up a bands setlist before seeing them in concert. Usually only for bands I’m half interested in. If it’s a bucket list band, I don’t go near it. I like to be surprised. However, Roger Daltrey of the Who seems to be a bit of a curmudgeon about it. In a recent interview with Billboard Daltrey said “There’s no surprises left with concerts these days, ’cause everybody wants to see the setlist. I’m fucking sick of it. The internet’s ruined the live shows for me.
The Best Time To Be Born Was The Early 80’s. Period.
This post is not a “these young kids today don’t get it” criticism. “Kids today” can take a look at this and maybe see where we come from. This is meant to make us grateful for being born at an awesome and unique time in history. A peaceful and simple time. Even if it wasn’t, we didn’t know. I was born in 1983. Sure, I may be getting a little long in the tooth now, but if you were born in the early 80’s you know what I mean when I say we were born at the perfect time.
I Feel Bad For The Edmonton Elks. I Really Do.
The Elks are set to celebrate their 75th anniversary this year. Exciting times. In fact, they are bringing former team greats to recognize the colossal achievements of the franchise this weekend as the Elks open things up against the Riders. However, things took a turn last night. You see, last night the Edmonton Oilers sealed the deal and advanced to the Stanley Cup final. I know what you’re thinking. Why does that matter Chad?
Angel Hernandez Finally Makes The Right Call...And Quits!
Angel Hernandez is the most polarizing official in MLB history. Many people (like myself) genuinely wonder how he still has a job. He has dropped more calls than the phone company. He’s robbed more MLB players than Shohei Ohtani’s translator. The main objective of an official in any sport is to have as little impact on the overall outcome of the game as possible. Fans and athletes should barely know you’re there. Hernandez’s presence was always known.
Recording Engineer/Producer Steve Albini Dies at 61.
Albini suffered a heart attack yesterday. He was best known for his raw engineering/producing method of imperfection. Before recording Nirvana’s “In Utero” album, the follow-up to “Nevermind” he wrote this letter to the band explaining his method. He was brilliant.
Ballparks Ranked From My East Coast Road Trip
Baseball stadiums aren’t like any other venue in sports. Ballparks are either a point of pride or embarrassment for fans. My brother and I recently visited 4 east coast ballparks in 5 days and we had a blast. It was fun ranking them on who we thought had the best overall gameday experience. I should also point out that my brother and I both had dramatically different experiences and rankings, so it goes to show they are subjective. A great ballpark can be rated on 4 factors. The building. The fans.
Sorry, Not Sorry: How to Dodge Streaming Suggestions Like a Pro
So, you know that friend who’s always pushing their latest Netflix obsession on you? Yeah, the one who won’t shut up about how you HAVE to watch that new series or your life will be incomplete? Well, fear not, because I’ve got your back.
Why organisations need better Identity Access Management systems after the T-Mobile fraud scheme
By Chad McDonald (pictured) CISO at Radiant Logic Having the ability to access a computer without authorisation in order to commit other crimes such as identity theft, is a serious issue and one that shows poor identity management practices. These poor processes meant that an employee could easily unlock and unblock mobile devices.
How to avoid an identity management crisis during the M&A process
A man jogs past the CBS Broadcast Center on August 13, 2019, in New York City, the day the $12 billion CBS-Viacom merger was announced. Not all deals are for that amount of money, but today’s columnist, Chad McDonald of Radiant Logic, says once a merger is in play, security teams have to identify all the important data and automate processes so threat actors can't take take advantage of the inevitable gaps.
Making Identity the Priority for 2022
Industry executives and experts share their predictions for 2022. Read them in this 14th annual VMblog.com series exclusive. By Chad McDonald, CIO and CISO,Radiant Logic Identity has, and always will be, a key component in a business's infrastructure. Organizations that create massive amounts of data and are using data lakes or data warehouses to manage those terabytes, know all too well how difficult it is to integrate data from all sources across an organization. It's no different with identity.
Expert comment on Biden's exec order
Expert comment on Biden’s exec order May 2021 by Chad McDonald, CISO at Digital.ai The comment by Chad McDonald, CISO at Digital.ai on Biden’s signing of the executive order and the importance of security. “The new executive order underscores that security is not a ‘point in time’ strategy – it must be continuously and strenuously assessed to stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated bad actors. This is a good start, but policy alone will not solve these issues.

Chad McDonald, CISO at Digital.ai comment on the new and ongoing EU Digital Services Act and how this will affect businesses around the world, particularly big tech giants: “While originating in the EU, the outcomes on this act will span the globe. When the GDPR was created, it caused ripples around the world and spawned regional legislation outside of the EU.
