WALKER, MI – Three individuals were injured following a head-on crash in West Michigan Monday after one vehicle reportedly crossed the center turn lane and struck an oncoming van, pinning its driver inside. Officers were called to the scene shortly after noon Monday, June 29, in the 3200 block of Northridge Drive, according to the Walker Police Department. Upon arrival, police found a white delivery van off the roadway with heavy front-end damage and the driver trapped inside.
KENT COUNTY, MI – A man found dead inside a construction dumpster has been identified as Joseph Otis Hammer, a 38-year-old Wyoming resident. His body was found inside the dumpster on Sunday, June 28, at a construction site on 28th Street, west of Michigan Avenue, Wyoming police said. Wyoming firefighters found his body while responding to a report of a dumpster fire around 9:20 p.m. Firefighters found no signs of fire but spotted the man’s body inside the container.
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Police arrested one man while responding to two street takeovers over the weekend. Grand Rapids police responded to takeovers on I-196 and the intersection of Stocking Avenue NE and Third Street. Others may have occurred before police could reach the scene. The incidents happened late Saturday, June 27, into Sunday. There were no reported injuries.
GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Tous les Jours, a Korean-French bakery café chain, will open a location in Grand Rapids on July 3, its second store in West Michigan. The 3,300-square-foot store at 3581 28th St. SE, which features pastries, cakes and coffee drinks, will have seating for 48 customers. A grand opening celebration is scheduled for 10 a.m. July 3. The first 120 customers will receive a free Tous les Jours tumbler, and customers who spend $30 or more will receive a mini insulated tote bag.
KENT COUNTY, MI – The body of a 38-year-old Wyoming man was found Sunday, June 28, inside a construction dumpster, Wyoming police said. Foul play is not suspected but police continue to investigate. Wyoming firefighters found the man’s body while responding to a 9:20 p.m. report of a dumpster fire at a construction site in the 1300 block of 28th Street SW, west of Michael Avenue.
KENT COUNTY, MI – A 25-year-old Jackson man died Monday, June 29, in a rollover crash. His name has not been released. The crash, reported at 6:19 a.m., happened at Pettis Avenue NE just north of Five Mile Road, a Kent County sheriff’s sergeant said. The victim, a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to a local hospital where he died. Preliminary investigation showed that the driver lost control of the vehicle before it rolled over and struck a guardrail.

KENT COUNTY, MI - A man was in critical condition after escaping a burning house Sunday night in Kent County. Kent County sheriff’s deputies performed CPR and restored the man’s breathing and pulse. The house fire was reported around 11:45 p.m. Sunday, June 28, on Channel Drive SE near McCords Avenue. Caledonia Township firefighters responded to a report of a house engulfed in flames. While enroute, firefighters were told that part of the residence had collapsed.
