The Mamata Banerjee camp has hit out at the rebels a day after they reached out to the Speaker to back the BJP-led ruling NDA, powering a mutiny that now risks splitting the Trinamool Congress. Senior MP Kalyan Banerjee today called this an "act of betrayal" but gave out a message of relief that the rebels had now revealed their loyalties. "We are very happy that the double-character people are gone. Whoever wants to go can go. We are okay with you leaving.

'Got offer to join BJP, I rejected it': Trinamool MP's claim amid crisis

Edited by Chandrajit Mitra Trinamool MP Saugata Roy has claimed that the BJP had offered him a switchover, but he rejected it. Speaking to news agency ANI, the veteran politician asserted that he will stay with Mamata Banerjee. "Yes, I got an offer to join (the BJP). But I rejected it. I will stay in the party on whose symbol I won the election," he added. Roy's remarks came after a senior Rajya Sabha MP quit the party after making bombshell corruption allegations.
