1 Introduction Maxillary sinus carcinoma is a rare disease, accounting for < 3% of all head and neck malignancies [1, 2]. Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the most typical histological type, followed by adenocarcinoma and adenoid cystic carcinomas [3, 4]. The therapeutic challenge arises from the fact that most patients are diagnosed at a locally advanced stage when the tumors extend to adjacent critical structures [5, 6].
