1 Introduction Polo-like kinase 3 (PLK3) is a member of the PLK protein kinase family, consisting of five known mammalian members (PLK1, PLK2, PLK3, PLK4, and PLK5) [1]. Compared to PLK1, the prototype member of the family, a tumor promoter, and a well-established cancer drug target, the role of PLK3 in cancer and as a therapeutic target is much less studied [2-4]. Biochemical and cellular studies in the past have established a complex functional profile of PLK3.
