The closed beta is being rolled out to a handful of users beginning today, with a wider release coming "soon," according to the publisher. During this initial phase, the game selection is limited to 'Madden NFL 25,' 'FIFA 14,' 'Battlefield 4' and 'Peggle 2,' but more games will be added both before and after launch. 'Star Trek'-themed beer to debut Saturday

Indianapolis Star — Bloodwine may be the Klingon drink of choice but that hasn't stopped an Indiana brewery from creating a new 'Star Trek'-themed beer. This Saturday, Klingon Warnog gets a coming-out party at Scotty's Brewhouse Downtown in advance of its July 28 rollout across the U.S.. P resented by Downtown Comics, 'Star Trek First Contact Beer Debut' will give fans their first chance to try the non-synthehol drink. Comic-Con: Details of 'Batman '66' Blu-ray/DVD set

Indianapolis Star — During Thursday night's 'Batman '66' panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego, Warner Home Video released the first details of the sets' extras and the first real images of the DVD and Blu-ray box sets. Besides the 120 episodes produced across the show's three seasons -- puts your 13-episode 'Game of Thrones' seasons to shame, doesn't it? -- the set will include three hours of extras (according to the WHV press site): * Hanging with Batman: A true slice of life in the words of Adam West * Holy Memorabilia Batman!: A journey into the most sought after collectables through the eyes of 3 extraordinary collectors * Batmania Born!

'Batman '66,' 'Pee-wee's Playhouse' up for pre-order

'Batman '66,' 'Pee-wee's Playhouse' up for pre-order

Indianapolis Star — The calendar says 2014 is more than half over, so the recent flood of pre-order announcements for Blu-ray and DVD sets due later this year make sense. Hot on the heels of 'The Wonder Years: Complete Series' come two more major sets that will likely be under a lot of Christmas trees. Thanks to the custom hotel room keys being passed out in advance of next week's Comic-Con International in San Diego, we now have a firm date -- Nov. 11 -- for Warner Bros.' 'Batman: The Complete Television Series.' Now the collection is up for pre-order on Amazon.com on either DVD or Blu-ray.

NFL Sunday Ticket offered to cord-cutters

NFL Sunday Ticket offered to cord-cutters

Indianapolis Star — While DirecTV's grip on the NFL Sunday Ticket package remains strong, it has begun to loosen the reins on how you can see all those out-of-market football games with its new NFLSundayTicket.tv. No longer do you need a physical dish or DirecTV subscription. In fact, one of the three ways to become eligible for this package is to live in an apartment building where DirecTV isn't available due to surrounding obstructions. (Check your eligibility with the handy form linked to near the top of the main page.)

Comic-Con: Ben Affleck ready for his Batman close-up

Comic-Con: Ben Affleck ready for his Batman close-up

Indianapolis Star — It may be the close-up we deserve, but not the close-up we need right now. We've already had a glimpse of Ben Affleck in the full Batman suit from the upcoming "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice," but DC Comics has thrown down the gauntlet at Comic-Con International in San Diego by releasing the first close-up of the Oscar winner in the Dark Knight cowl. Ben Affleck as Batman(Photo: DC Comics / Warner Bros.) First thoughts? * Boy those are some short ears. While I don't think anyone was expecting the ears to compare to the Golden Age Batman, they still seem very...nubbish.

'Minecraft' testing new skinny-arm models

'Minecraft' testing new skinny-arm models

Indianapolis Star — It's still in the testing phase, but your Minecraft avatars may soon be able to offer tickets to "the gun show." According to the Twitter feed of Jens Bergensten, a developer at 'Minecraft' maker Mojang, the company is working on tweaking the arms of the characters, shrinking them from four pixels -- the blocks that make up the character model -- to just three. Bergenten's feed features four before-and-after comparison images of standard models. While the difference is limited to just the arms -- the torso remains eight pixels wide, and each leg is four -- the slimmer arms give the models a more pleasing streamlined look.

Sony launches 2-for-1 sale on select PS3/Vita games

Sony launches 2-for-1 sale on select PS3/Vita games

Indianapolis Star — Money a little tight but you still have that "I want a new game itch"? Sony's new 2-for-1 sale may be some help. Through July 21, PlayStation 3 and PSP/Vita owners -- sorry, PS4 -- with access to the PlayStation Network can purchase bundles of two specific games for the normal price of just one, ranging from $10 to $30. Most of the games are older, but there are a few that were released within the last year. As in nearly every time items are bundled together, not all components are created equal. 'Bionic Commando Rearmed'? FANTASTIC reworking of the NES classic.

'The Wonder Years' up for pre-order

'The Wonder Years' up for pre-order

Indianapolis Star — If the February announcement that 'The Wonder Years: Complete Series' was coming out on DVD later this year got your heart racing, time to break out the credit card: StarVista/Time Life is now taking pre-orders. As expected based on numbers -- episodes (115), required discs (26) and songs that had to be re-licensed (300+) -- the set won't be Mill Creek-level cheap. However, the $249.95 price tag is not much more than buying two of the $110 'Star Trek: TNG' or 'X-Files' season box sets when they first came out.

'Minecraft: Pocket' gets infinite worlds with update

'Minecraft: Pocket' gets infinite worlds with update

Indianapolis Star — It's still technically in the alpha stage, but Mojang's 'Minecraft: Pocket Edition' (for iOS and Android) has moved one step closer to full-release status with its new 0.9.0 update. While it isn't even close to feature parity with the version on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, let alone on PC and Mac, 0.9.0 is a major step forward. The biggest change is the addition of infinite worlds to explore and build in. Previously, your sandbox had been limited to 256 blocks by 256 blocks, but now you can go to your heart's content (or your mobile device crashing/dying, whichever comes first).

Sigourney Weaver returns to world of 'Alien'

Sigourney Weaver returns to world of 'Alien'

Indianapolis Star — It has been 35 years since the sci-fi/horror classic 'Alien' landed in theaters, introducing the movie-going public to the xenomorph title creature and the rag-tag crew of the Nostromo that had little chance against it. For the first time since 1979, nearly all the original actors -- Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, Yaphet Kotto, Harry Dean Stanton and Veronica Cartwright -- are returning to the Nostromo, at least in voice, as part of the pre-order bonus for Sega's upcoming "Alien: Isolation" (due Oct. 7 on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC).
