Abstract Two novel actinomycete strains, AG03ᵀ and ODS28ᵀ, were isolated from worker ants Anochetus graeffei and Odontomachus simillimus, respectively, collected in Thailand. Strain AG03ᵀ exhibited the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity (98.28%) to Nocardia grenadensis NBRC 108939ᵀ, whereas strain ODS28ᵀ showed the highest similarity (97.73%) to Actinacidiphila bryophytorum NEAU-HZ10ᵀ.

Abstract An actinomycete strain, PTD5-9T, was isolated from peat swamp forest soil in Narathiwat Province, Thailand. Chemotaxonomic features and phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence placed this strain within the genus Streptomyces. It exhibited the highest sequence similarity to Streptomyces gelaticus NRRL B-2928ᵀ (99.38%) and Streptomyces sanglieri NBRC 100784ᵀ (99.31%).

We suggested that Couchioplanes, Nucisporomicrobium and Pseudosporangium should be reclassified as the genus Actinoplanes on their genome-based classification.
