Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes! I learned to type in junior high school, and I typed all my term papers in college on an IBM Selectric.

All the news now is immediate.

MS Word, MS Office 2010

Why did you become a journalist?
The joys of the written word plus discovery of the new and unusual.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I was editor of the yearbook my senior year. My first exposure to journalism and publishing.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
My op ed in The Idependent, "This 4th of July, I Won't Wave an American Flag."
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
On a hiking trail.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I read the Los Angeles Times everyday. I also love Harpers, New Yorker, The Paris Review, NYT, WaPo, and on and on!
