A woman says she is "disgusted" after Southern Rail refused to reimburse her for a taxi to Gatwick Airport. Emine Salih, 57, from Denton, near Newhaven, had booked an eleven-day holiday to Menorca with her partner as a much-needed break. But the trip got off to a bad start when their train to Gatwick Airport was cancelled just minutes before they were due to leave. The couple had planned to travel from Newhaven Town to Gatwick on the 9.01am Southern service on May 11.

Man slams lack of parking spaces after repeated fines

A man who keeps getting fines for parking near his home says he often has nowhere else to go because there are not enough spaces in the car park for permit holders. Lee Greenfield holds a valid parking permit which allows him to park in one of just 19 'DM' allocated spaces in Ousedale Close on the De Montfort estate in Lewes. When those spaces are full and he parks in adjacent, non-DM street bays — 20 to 30 metres from his front door — he receives parking tickets.

In pictures - historic Christopher Columbus ship arrives at Sussex harbour

A historic ship has docked in a harbour in Sussex. The Nao Santa María, a replica of one of Christopher Columbus's Atlantic-crossing vessels, will be open for public tours at Sovereign Harbour in Eastbourne from June 19 to 28. Images show the impressive looking ship arriving and docking at Eastbourne's Sovereign Harbour. Built in 2018 by the Fundación Nao Victoria, the 200-ton ship was commissioned to commemorate the 525th anniversary of the Encounter between Two Worlds.
