Travellers passing through Newark Liberty International Airport over Memorial Day weekend have been subjected to numerous delays and cancellations as new temporary FAA restrictions came into effect on Friday 23 May. On 23 May, FlightAware.com noted a total of 282 delays and eight cancellations from Newark, rising to 389 delays and 14 cancellations on Saturday. This dropped marginally to 215 total delays and a further eight cancellations on Sunday.

Vietjet has doubled its firm orders for the Airbus A330neo, with a new deal for an additional 20 A330-900 aircraft to support its ongoing international network expansion over the next decade. This “long-term order” will allow the Vietnamese carrier to “increase flights on high capacity routes across the Asia-Pacific region, as well as to introduce new future long haul services to Europe,” explained Airbus. Vietjet’s current A330-300s operate international routes to Australia, India and Kazakhstan.

Vertical Aerospace appears to have performed the first conventional take-off and landing (CTOL) flight of its VX4 eVTOL, with unverified footage posted on social media apparently showing the aircraft in wing-borne flight beyond the perimeter of the circuit. An eight-second video posted on Twitter/X by @steerwithmyrear appears to show the VX4 in forward flight, propellers tilted, accompanied by a chase helicopter.
