U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon answered pointed questions Friday about the future of federal education policy during a press gaggle following her visit to the Central Educational Center in Coweta County. McMahon addressed concerns ranging from Title I funding and civil rights enforcement to student loan repayment, as the Trump administration moves forward with plans to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education and return its functions to other federal agencies and the states.

U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff’s bipartisan Preventing Child Trafficking Act has passed the U.S. Senate. Earlier this year, Sens. Ossoff and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) introduced the bipartisan Preventing Child Trafficking Act of 2025 to strengthen coordination between the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to prevent child trafficking. The bipartisan bill passed the U.S. Senate last night as part of this year’s NDAA.

This week, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) accepted the Congressional Management Foundation’s (CMF) 2025 Democracy Award for the best Constituent Correspondence & Outreach Services. The award follows the Senator and his office’s outreach efforts to communicate disaster response and recovery resources following Hurricane Helene’s Georgia landfall in September of 2024. The Senator accepted the award at the CMF’s Democracy Awards ceremony.
