Microcavity optomechanical magnetometry with picotesla-sensitivity - Light: Science & Applications
Abstract A new microcavity magnetometry with FeGaB thin film achieves 1.68 pT/Hz1/2 sensitivity, which is two orders of magnitude improvement over previous work. Corona current detection has been demonstrated using this magnetometer. High-quality (Q) whispering gallery mode (WGM) optical microcavities1 have emerged as a versatile platform for various applications, including quantum optics2, optical microcombs3, and highly sensitive sensing4,5.
A microcomb-empowered Fourier domain mode-locked LIDAR
Abstract Light detection and ranging (LIDAR) has emerged as an indispensable tool in autonomous technology. Among its various techniques, frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) LIDAR stands out due to its capability to operate with ultralow return power, immunity to unwanted light, and simultaneous acquisition of distance and velocity.
Integrated microcavity electric field sensors using Pound-Drever-Hall detection - Nature Communications
Abstract Discerning weak electric fields has important implications for cosmology, quantum technology, and identifying power system failures. Photonic integration of electric field sensors is highly desired for practical considerations and offers opportunities to improve performance by enhancing microwave and lightwave interactions. Here, we demonstrate a high-Q microcavity electric field sensor (MEFS) by leveraging the silicon chip-based thin film lithium niobate photonic integrated circuits.
