Gas hydrates are ice-like crystalline compounds composed of water and gas guest molecules such as methane (CH 4 ), ethane (C 2 H 6 ), propane (C 3 H 8 ), carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), and hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S). Water molecules link through hydrogen bonds to form cage-like structures around gas molecules under low-temperature and high-pressure conditions.
