Eco-interaction modulus (ϕEI). Concentration gradients of substrates in microbial aggregates are the result of mass transfer limitations and biological activity. Inevitably one of them will be the rate-limiting process depending on the conditions and the biological system. Substrate gradients only emerge when mass transfer resistance is sufficient to limit the rate of the reaction. In the presence of multiple substrates, the limiting one can be identified by comparing diffusion and reaction rates.

The past year has been a crazy journey for each of us. With our amazing team, we have worked extremely hard on our project and couldn't be more proud of everything we accomplished!
