1 Introduction Chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD) affects 10% of the population and is the 4th leading cause of death according to the World Health Organization [1]. Emphysema is one manifestation of COPD that involves lung tissue destruction resulting in air retention and hyperinflation. Bronchoscopic lung volume reduction (BLVR) involves bronchoscopic placement of one-way endobronchial valves (EBVs), enabling passive deflation of hyperinflated lobes and diaphragm unloading.
