Hurricane Fausto maintained its strength Saturday just before entering the Central Pacific, but forecasters have adjusted its track farther north and expect it to pass the Hawaiian Islands as a weakening tropical storm Tuesday and Wednesday. Fausto remained a Category 2 storm with 100 mph maximum sustained winds and was centered about 1,060 miles from Hilo as of 5 p.m. Saturday, moving west at 13 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.
