Chloe Shrager’s Biography

A reader, writer, reporter and poet on a good day. I recently graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science on the International Relations track with a focus on human rights, nuclear weapons policy, and nuclear justice. I aim to combine my background in these topics with a career in journalism to cover international human rights and investigate the risks that nuclear weapons pose to our world today.

I currently report on county government at the San Luis Obispo Tribune, a local McClatchy paper on the Central Coast of California, while still writing about nuclear risk for the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. I have currently reported on breaking news for the San Francisco Chronicle. Ultimately, I aim to tell important stories in whatever medium I can learn and master.

I previously worked in managerial and leadership positions, held a range of research roles, and worked in outdoor education. I also have data journalism experience using mapping tools and coding in Python with a willingness and enthusiasm to learn other languages and programming methodologies.

In my free time, you will probably find me outdoors, whether I am ski coaching, surfing, leading backpacking and camping trips as an outdoor trip leader or playing winger on the rugby field.
