Fetoscopic laser ablation for vasa previa: caution in interpreting early experience

I read with interest the study of Backley et al. comparing fetoscopic laser ablation (FLA) with ‘standard management’ (SM) for Type-II and Type-III vasa previa (VP)1. The authors report a 62.9% rate of vaginal delivery following FLA; however, the primary outcome was gestational age (GA) at delivery, not mode of delivery, and several aspects of the study substantially affect interpretation and generalizability and warrant scrutiny.
