1 INTRODUCTION Although there is a projected decrease in the future incidence of gastric cancer in Japan,1 it is crucial to understand that the distribution of future incidences of gastric cancer may differ by geographic area. This underscores the importance of area-specific projections, which are essential for policymakers to implement evidence-based policies to address urban–rural disparities and effectively allocate resources for prevention and intervention.
