The shooting took place in "broad daylight" in the Highfields area of Doncaster, police say [BBC] A man has suffered "life-changing" injuries in a suspected shooting in Doncaster, police said. Officers were called to South Street in the Highfields area at about 18:20 BST on Monday following reports a man was shot while walking on parkland. The 34-year-old man remains in hospital with serious injuries, South Yorkshire Police said.

The operator imposed an emergency 21-day closure of the Sportsfield crossing in Featherstone on 23 April after "a sustained period of serious safety concerns". At the time, it said there had been four instances of "dangerous misuse" in just two weeks, which included a report of a child being allowed to wander onto the railway.

Man seriously injured in stabbing during robbery

A man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was stabbed during a suspected shop robbery in Barnsley, police said. Officers were called by the ambulance service to Pontefract Road in Lundwood at 20:50 BST on Thursday following reports a man had been attacked at the Todays Express store. The 40-year-old victim was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition, although he has since stabilised, South Yorkshire Police said.
