Since earning an MPhil in Byzantine Studies (Oxford, 1999), I’ve worked as a professional freelance writer from Southeast Europe, covering the region’s exotic and compelling events for leading global publishers in areas from travel, culture and history to geopolitics, terrorism and migration. This versatility of coverage derives from my respect for local realities, and a passion for singularities- something that’s also influenced my approach to consulting (in which I’ve worked with leading firms on complex projects) and literature (an ambitious new project now in-process). I’ve also frequently been an expert speaker for US government agencies and international conferences.
