Qwen Image Edit vs Flux.1 Kontext vs Nano Banana
At the end of June I wrote a piece on using Flux.1 Kontext (Dev) Multimodal Image Editing, since then we have seen the release of Qwen Image Edit and Google Nano Banana (officially Gemini 2.5 Flash Image). I thought it was time to revisit those Flux.1 Kontext images and do a comparison with Qwen Image Edit and Nano Banana. Getting Started - Qwen Image Edit Given Qwen Image Edit is based on the same core model as Qwen Image I am expecting similar levels of control and quality.
Starts Fade, Finishes Last
Your Business is Not on a Fixed Path You may start your business with a firm and clear business plan but it shouldn't be set in stone. It's where you get to as a business which marks its success, not where you started from. Nintendo started out making handcrafted playing cards in Japan; YouTube started as a video dating site; and Wrigley sold soap and baking powder, giving chewing gum away as a freebie, the gum became more popular than the products, so they pivoted to gum.
Qwen Image FP8 vs Full Q8 GGUF
In this last comparison I had to change the seed for the second image as the first run with same seed messed up the arms, correspondingly the composition is different. In this case though the detail and sharpness on the second image is better, but there are still some oddities in the composition. In conclusion the results are a bit mixed, the detail and sharpness seem to be a little better but the composition of the Q8 model is a bit hit and miss.
Qwen Image Model - New Open Source Leader?
Text rendering and prompt adherence on a new level Press enter or click to view image in full size There has been some excitement over the last week or two around the new model in the Qwen series by Alibaba. Qwen Image is a 20B parameter — that’s 3 billion more than HiDream — MMDiT (Multimodal Diffusion Transformer) model, open-sourced under the Apache 2.0 license.
Wan2.2 - Text 2 Image Generation?
Reddit, along with a few other forums, has seen a lot of chatter recently about using the Wan2.2 video model for image generation, with claims it is better than Flux.1 Dev and Flux.1 Krea. I’ll admit I was sceptical but these comments intrigued me so I thought I would give it a quick try.
Funding: Too Much, Too Little, Just Enough
Finding the Right Start-Up Funding Starting a business takes more than a great idea and enthusiasm, it also takes cash. Funding a start-up is rarely straightforward, with options that are ever-changing and needs that are highly specific. This post isn’t a guide to venture capital or crowdfunding, those deserve deep dives of their own. Instead, this is a high-level look at small business funding, with a few personal lessons learned the hard way.

Goes without saying that all images in the publication are created using AI. Extending Video While Maintaining Consistency Generative AI for video and images must be more littered with hyperbole than any other subject — maybe some of it is justified.
Flux.1 Kontext (Dev) Multimodal Image Editing
Unleashing AI image manipulation locally on your computer The Black Forest Labs suite of diffusion models have gained great popularity since their release last year, with several cloud and local versions available covering image generation, inpainting/outpainting and redux (image variation). The latest Kontext model, which is all about image editing, was released in Pro and Max forms around a month ago but only accessible via cloud services or in ComfyUI via an API.

Dear AI: What Even Is ‘B1ork!’ Supposed to Mean?
Why AI can create a masterpiece but not write ‘Hello’ Diffusion models have revolutionised image generation, producing stunningly realistic photos and artwork which can be hard to differentiate from a real photograph or human generated illustration. Until you introduce text. Using these same models to attempt to generate readable text within images, results in frequently garbled, nonsensical, or completely illegible scribblings.
Starting a Business: The Big Idea
Why Execution Matters More Than Inspiration “You don’t need an amazing idea for a business, you just need to be better than the others”, a friend once told me. Or, for a soundbite “Success is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration”, a quote often attributed to Thomas Edison. There’s a lot of truth in both statements. A fantastic idea can be an asset, but plenty of good ideas have failed in execution. Success in business is about much more than just a clever concept.
Notes from a Small Business: An Introduction
Reflections, Observations and Thoughts for those on a Start-Up Journey In 2008, after thirteen years, I walked out of a well-paid, comfortable, senior corporate job at a global company to create a technology start-up in the events industry with a colleague. We left behind all the corporate trimmings and golden handcuffs of stock options, bonuses and healthy pensions, to jump into a world we knew little about. On reflection I was probably mad. No, I was definitely mad.

Sheriff: Three deputies, suspect shot in Ogle County, Illinois, standoff
Three Ogle County deputies were among four people shot Wednesday during a standoff in Lost Lake in Ogle County. Sheriff Brian VanVickle said deputies responded about 8:40 a.m. to the gated community of Lost Lake on a report of an individual threatening suicide. Unable to talk to the individual, deputies tried to enter the home shortly before noon, which is when three deputies were shot, VanVickle said. The deputies returned gunfire and struck the individual with the gun.
The Era of 'Returns' Is Over in the Hospitality Industry
Recent years have been marked by a fervent pursuit of progress and an urgency to re-align with global standards — “a return to this” and “a return to that” dominating media headlines. In 2024, “returns” are redundant — this year is a year to take the metaphysical bull by the horns and make the best of all the tools we have at our disposal.
