If you want to rely on one smart home ecosystem, so be it. If you want to rely on Wi-Fi to connect all your devices or you want to go the Bluetooth route, you can.

Compatibility with your smart home is one of the first aspects you have to pay attention to when you're buying new devices. You want something that's going to fit in with your smart home ecosystem. Buying something that won't work with your home doesn't make much sense and is only going to frustrate you. You'll only make the mistake once if you don't pay attention to the logos on the box. Every smart home device lists what ecosystems it works with.

Even if you don't own a home, you should still at least have a drill or electric screwdriver, as they would certainly come in handy. Of course, power tools have become more essential for the larger-scale projects you're attempting to do, even if it's just clearing away brush and weeds in your home.
