Housed in the southern Brazilian metropolis of Curitiba (population two million), owners have been working for eight years to bring the facility to life.

The Boca Raton wave pool says they plan to deliver surf and related activities to wave-starved South Florida.
How a wave pool has helped the Scottish team
It’s happened. And Rick Kane, all the way across the Pond, would be very, very proud. Coaches from Lost Shore Surf Resort helped the Scottish national surfing team achieve its best-ever placement at the 2025 Euro Surf Championships. The event held from July 18 to 25 during the Ocean Spirit Festival in Portugal. According to Lost Shore, surf coaches Craig McLachlan and Finn Clark joined the team in both competitive and support roles.

Ensuring Water Quality in Surf Parks: Key Insights on Filtration Systems
Maintaining water quality in surf parks presents unique challenges distinct from traditional swimming pools or water parks. But many jurisdictions struggle to define these large bodies of water designed for recreation. As the surf park industry expands, developers are increasingly focused on ensuring their facilities meet both regulatory standards and public expectations for cleanliness.
Effective Strategies for Attracting and Retaining Customers in Surf Parks
“Filling the pool” is a play on Bob McKnight’s now-famous call to the surf industry to “grow the pond.” At the height of the aughts (or noughties for those outside the US), Quiksilver, Billabong, and Rip Curl heavily invested in surf schools to grow the sport—and their apparel sales. More than 20 years later, wave pool marketing has taken the reins from the dissolving surfwear industry.
Wave pool backs diversity with Melbourne programs
The joke goes that all the Aussies with a penchant for black clothing and Nick Cave left their respective hometowns and high-tailed it for Melbourne. Australia’s second-largest city is an enticing bouillabaisse of alternative lifestyles and multiculturalism fueled by the belief that diversity builds a better world. Surfing, despite the sport’s peace-loving neo-hippie branding, has done very little to follow Melbourne’s lead.

The Big List: 10 Rapid Wave Pool Technologies and How They Work
How do these waves differ from the surf in other wave pools? One distinction between “traveling wave” and “standing wave” is that one mimics ocean surfing and the other mimics river surfing. KSWaveCo, Endless Surf, SurfLoch, Wavegarden and others are traveling waves where the rider traverses a measurable distance when riding. The Eisbach and Zambezi rivers are rapid waves where you can surf the same wave for several minutes and not travel any longitudinal distance.
Drone gives complete view of new Boa Vista wave pool in Brazil

This week all of that changed as Boa Vista officially opened its doors to residents this week, so expect plenty of Instagram fodder and celebrity surfer sightings. It’s on! Developed by JHSF, the wave pool sits at the center of a private residential development.
Tech That Works in Harmony with Teachers and Students
0 The Covid-19 pandemic was a significant moment in education. When schools suddenly had to find alternatives to provide their students with effective learning and instruction, they scrambled to find unique solutions to this once-in-a-lifetime challenge. Although solutions were found, there were flaws in many of the strategies that were put in place. Student engagement dropped, oversight was challenged, and learning progress was stifled.
Wave pool map expands to include rapid, standing waves
We are stoked to add the world’s rapid wave pools to our company’s Surf Planner page. The expansion comes with WavePoolMag’s expanding coverage of the standing wave market. As surfing enters a global growth phase in the Olympic era, we can expect all forms of the sport to rise with the tide. But not everyone has access to the ocean 24/7. As with traveling wave pools, rapid surf tanks have the power to bring surfing to landlocked areas that don’t have surfable waves.
Any excuse. Research team hits Kelly's wave pool to prove that offshore wind is best
Offshore wind good. Onshore wind bad. The research study we didn’t really need, but we’re stoked to have. Plus, the researchers got to go to Kelly’s. A team of scientists from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego took a trip to the Kelly Slater Surf Ranch to do extensive research about how wind affects waves.
Why you float better in salt water than in fresh water waves
There is so much theory tossed back and forth about why surfing in freshwater feels so different than it does in salted waves. We did some digging to mythbust Fresh vs. Salt buoyancy rumors and answer some basic questions. Guess what we found out? Yes, salt water is more buoyant than freshwater. But it’s a bit more complicated than that. Did you factor in temperature and salt density? Editor’s Note: This article originally appeared on WavePoolMag on December 23, 2019.

After helping flood victims, The Mad Hueys go for a pool surf
Written by Chris Klein March 22, 2022 The Mad Hueys crew were one of the first to boat aid to towns cut off from the rest of the world during Australia’s worst-ever flooding. It was the kind of sober scene we’re growing accustomed to during increasing natural disasters. The brand’s social media channels briefly halted its usual fare of boating fails, surf slams and images of team members holding up very large fish, and replaced it with calls for aid to those who needed help.
