Dulles Sportsplex closing after more than two decades

After 23 years in business, a local athletic center where thousands of kids have learned soccer, football, and basketball will officially close its doors next week. The last day for the Dulles Sportsplex in Sterling will be next Monday, August 31. Rumors had been circulating for several weeks now that the Sportsplex’s days were numbered and an email sent to customers today confirmed the news. “Our lease expires at the end of August.

Tifa Chocolate & Gelato opening new Herndon store

A new sweet shop specializing in gelato and artisan chocolates is in the works for Herndon. It’s called Tifa Chocolate & Gelato. According to building permits, it will be coming to the Village Center at Dulles shopping center off Centreville Road. The news was first reported by the team at Greater Reston Living. That’s the center with the big clocktower. Tifa is going into Suite 41, a roughly 1,500 s.f. space.

New in NoVa: Jordanian shawarma restaurant coming to Fairfax

A shawarma chain with a long history in the Middle East is getting ready to make its Northern Virginia debut with a new location in Fairfax. The brand is called Shawerma Reem and it will be opening at 8632 Route 29 in Fairfax. Shawerma Reem got its start as a food stand in Amman, Jordan in 1975 and has operations in that country as well as Saudi Arabia. Now, the brand is entering the U.S. market.
