Canella is an electrifying Albany‑based indie‑rock band fronted by lead singer and songwriter Juliana Castrillón, originally from Colombia. Known for transforming her intimate, “criss‑cross‑applesauce” bedroom compositions into high‑energy rock anthems, Juliana’s blunt and emotionally raw lyrics form the band’s core identity. Over the last year, they’ve built a reputation across regional stages and shows.

Mateo Vosganian spoke with me about this year's Sing in the Streets festival. It takes place on Sunday, May 19, in and around Caffe Lena. 14 bands on 6 stages! Mateo tells us more than half are Local 518 artists.

Nick Matulis, director of the Diver Library in Schaghticoke, brought us in once again to listen to and discuss the song making project that is community wide. The songwriters, singers, and musicians are from all age groups from the very very young, to older adults. It's an exciting project. The NYS summer reading theme provides the launching pad for this fun exercise that has everyone in town looking forward to summer for more than the weather and more than no school.
