A council will contribute £750,000 towards buying a car park to make way for extra homes on a huge 1,000-home redevelopment. City of Wolverhampton Council is set to agree to buy the former Network House site in School Street, Wolverhampton, as part of the huge Smithgate development. The site of the former ageing Network House and shopping parade in School Street, which was demolished more than six years ago, was converted into a private 24-hour car park at the start of 2024.

A plan to convert a former police training centre into flats has been redrawn. The application has now been re-submitted but now asks for permission to convert the building into 69 one-bed flats. Sandwell Council rejected plans to convert the former West Midlands Police training centre Windmill House in Windmill Lane, Smethwick, into a huge 76-bed HMO earlier this year.

A council is looking to extend restrictions on dogs in public spaces – including a new rule which it hopes reduces the cost of housing stray dogs. City of Wolverhampton Council wants to renew a city-wide public space protection order (PSPO) for another three years which includes rules on where to keep dogs on leads. Breaching the rules could lead to a £100 fine.
